ABSTRACT

The report concern with the continuation of the previous pre brief report which focuses on construction of residential house for University staff especially lecturers at survey quarters
The aim of the project is reduce the problem of accommodation for staffs of University of Dar es salaam also to achieve government objective to provide accommodations to its servants.
This report contain four chapters, chapter one is about introduction of the project, chapter two explain about the site in details such as site accessibility, site location, site features also it explain challenges in site, chapter three explain about deficiencies in brief workshop also general deficiencies in pre brief and brief workshop, chapter four contain conclusion and recommendations, chapter five and the last one describe rooms details in room data sheet format



CHAPTER ONE

INTRODUCTION

The project focuses on the designing of a residential house to be used as Lecturer’s house. This project was selected for the purpose of meeting the accommodation needs of university stuff particularly lecturers from the University of Dar-es-salaam.
It’s located along university road which provide easy access and the neighbors are other staff members {survey quarters}.

CHAPTER TWO

SITE DETAILS

Site location

It’s located along university road for easy access and the neighbors are other staff members {survey quarters)

Site features

The site has a flat ground with sand and clay covered with vegetation (trees and grasses)

Surrounding feature

Are the useful or advantageous factors or features present around the site, such as electricity, railroad, roads and water, the following is list of utilities found at site.
o   Electricity
o   Water supply system
o   Sewage system
o   Road infrastructure

Site accessibility

It’s located along university road which makes it easier to access through main road. The site is accessible

Challenges

·         The site is accessed at one side only (front side only)

CHAPTER THREE

DEFICIENCIES OF OUR PROJECT FROM THE CHECKLIST

Arrangements of facilities with respect to space example in bedroom1&2 the bed almost cover half of the room,
Also the arrangement of rooms are not in particularly combination or form, example the rooms/space should be allocated as either wet or dry area in which toilets and kitchen should be located at wet area and bedrooms, sitting room, dining room should be located as dry area. Also there are private area exposed to public areas like master bedroom position is not private but rather public area
A lot of free space which is not economical example the space taken by corridor between toilets and master bedroom has no use, it is just for the m.bedroom door only, also toilet and bathroom take a lot of space since 1.000m by 1.500m will be enough for toilet or it could be combined as the toilet in master bedroom.  

THE OVERALL DEFICIENCIES IN PRE-BRIEF AND BRIEF WORKSHOP 

In pre-brief the designer did not design rooms for guests (boys and girls) which become inconvenience to the end user since he or she will have some guests and they might need a place to stay for a while
Also designer design for septic and soak away pit while there is public sewage system, hence the designer did not consider surrounding features of the area.
Also in brief workshop there is some design problems like arrangement of the rooms, effective use of space








CHAPTER FOUR

CONCLUSION

In pre brief workshop we established general problems of design according to purpose and objective of the project also requirements of the client (university of Dar es Salaam) but in brief It goes deeper in details about rooms and what they contain inside as respect to their purpose
So future project should consider every deficiency in this project so as to get better project and achieve value for money
Including value management procedures since the start of the project will also contribute much in achieving value for money

RECOMMENDATION

The designer of the structure should ensure the design comply with client requirements and should check on surrounding features that may be useful to client .
