There
have been some misconceptions about how one can be infected with HIV
According
to the World Health Organization (WHO) the disease has killed more than 35
million people so far, last year alone nearly one million people died from
HIV-related illnesses.
There
are about 37 million people living with the virus - 70% of whom are diagnosed
in Africa - with 1.8 million new infections in 2017.
Since
AIDS was discovered in the 1980s, there has been talk about how its virus can
be transmitted.
How
has the life of the victims of the disease in the community improved?
Today
as the World celebrates World Aids Day, we highlight some of the misconceptions
that lead to stigma.
These
concepts have caused stigma against AIDS sufferers for a long time.
Despite
running a 2016 campaign to raise awareness in the UK about the issue 20% of the
country's population believes HIV can be transmitted through saliva or contact
with the person infected with the virus.
YOU CANNOT BE INFECTED WITH HIV THROUGH:
- For one inhalation
- A hug, a hug, or a hug
- Using together food containers
- Using water together
- Using together business objects
- Using together gym equipment
- Touch the passenger seat, door handle and so on
HIV
is transmitted through blood, breastfeeding or unprotected sex with someone who
has the virus. This is not a fact at all. Traditional
medicine, taking a shower after having sex or oral sex has no effect on HIV.
The
culture of purification that gained popularity in the saharan nations, as well
as in India and Thailand, has been described as extremely dangerous.
It
has led to girls being raped and young children being abused which puts them at
risk of contracting HIV.
The
origin of the culture is believed to be in Europe in the 16th century when
people began to be infected with sexually transmitted diseases such as
gonorrhea and syphilis.
Such
a culture did not even treat such diseases, although the infection goes through
the blood, several studies show that a person cannot get the infection from the
blood-sucking insects for these two reasons.
1)
The mosquito does not add blood to the person before it bites the person.
2)
HIV resides in them for a limited time.
So
even if a person lives in a mosquito-infested area, HIV infection has nothing
to do with those mosquitoes.
CONCEPT:
I CANNOT GET HIV FROM HAVING ORAL SEX
Of
course oral sex is probably less risky compared to other types of sex, Infection
rates are down four times in 10,000 cases, But a person can get an STI
infection with a man or woman who has the virus.
That
is why doctors recommend the use of a condom dispenser when performing oral
sex.
THE
CONCEPT: I CANNOT BE INFECTED WITH HIV BY WEARING A CONDOM BALL
Condoms
may rupture, break or break during the act of marriage which may put them at
risk of transmission to both partners Other symptoms such as weight loss,
diarrhea and coughing occur as the body's immune system progresses.
If
the victim does not receive treatment he or she may be exposed to diseases such
as tuberculosis, cerebral palsy, among others.
CONCEPT:
A PERSON INFECTED WITH HIV WILL DIE AT AN EARLY AGE
People
who know their HIV status and focus on treatment and nutrition live longer.
The
UNAids report says 47% of all people living with HIV have had the control of
the virus in their body through treatment, this means those people cannot
transmit the virus even if they are dating someone who is not infected with the
virus.
This
is why the success of the AIDS campaign does not stop in the context of telling
people to use vaccines alone, but beer there is a need for those infected with
HIV to get treatment.
According
to the World Health Organization WHO, one in every four people is HIV positive
and the person is uninfected - this means 9.4 million people - are at higher
risk of contracting the deadly disease.
CONCEPT:
IF YOU HAVE NO SYMPTOMS YOU DO NOT HAVE THE VIRUS
A
person may be infected with the virus and not be informed.
However
he may be diagnosed with illnesses such as influenza-like headache, fever,
fever or sore throat in the first few weeks after contracting the virus that
causes AIDS.
However
when they stop treatment the virus levels increase and can be seen in his
blood.
According
to WHO, 21.7 million people with HIV have been taking antiretroviral drugs in
2017, That number has increased from 8 million people in 2010 - meaning 78% of
people with HIV know their status.
CONCEPT:
AFFECTED MOTHERS WILL INFECT THEIR CHILDREN
The
issue is controversial but the possibility of mothers who have completely
controlled the level of HIV in their bodies can breastfeed their babies without
infecting them.
